Barbara Shepherd to speak at Mid-Oklahoma Writers

Award-winning author Barbara Shepherd is scheduled to speak at the monthly meeting of Mid-Oklahoma Writers on Tuesday, May 14th at 7:00 p.m. in Midwest City. Her books include: River Bend, The Potbelly Pig Promise, Vittles and Vignettes, and Patchwork Skin. The event at the Family Center (behind East Side Church of Christ), 916 South Douglas, is free and open to the public.

As the recipient of more than 350 writing awards in local, regional, national, and international contests for fiction, non-fiction, screenplay, and poetry, she will present “Secrets from the Contest Queen.”

Shepherd is the 2019 Poetry Society of Oklahoma Poet Laureate and has won the American Christian Writers’ Writer of the Year (twice) and received a Readers Choice Award from miller’s pond, the Creme de la Creme from Norman Galaxy of Writers (two years back to back), and a Creme de la Creme from Mid-Oklahoma Writers. She has been a Finalist for OWFI’s Creme de la Creme award ten times, won the Rose State Writers Conference 2016 Outstanding Author and the 2017 Oklahoma State Fair’s Voice of the Fair Poet. She is also a Woody Guthrie Poet, a former Nominee for Poet Laureate of the State of Oklahoma, and an Honorary Life Member of (OWFI) Oklahoma Writers Federation, Inc.
